In some ways I think 9/11 was an even bigger event than people realize, America's collective psyche really took some damage, a lot of people turned to embracing religion etc.. right after it, I still don't think Americans have recovered from it, it was something that seemed inconcievable at the time, attacking the heart of the USA. I suspect there are still many people that are "shell schocked", that haven't come to terms with it (I don't mean just people in NY).

I think so. The country shut down for union workers. They couldn't get work at home, so some lost homes, vehicles, marriages. Some went overseas for some sort of income. Some were forced to sell their homes, etc. trying to make ends meet until things got better. Work was going great up till 9/11, and is going now, not like before 9/11, but better. Of course, if people were home instead of overseas, who knows what it would be. I think people that were their and saw it, will always remember it. You can't get the images out of your mind.

I have a very strong belief that elements within the US govt and other intelligence agnecies pulled off the attack

I'm not the only one. something like 70% of people in the states don't beleive the official story.

I think the Bush administration has completely destroyed any inkling of trust america had in the federal gov't.

That was the biggest event in US history since the civil war. The country will never be the same again.

The polictical powers to hope that we are still effected by 9/11, because if we are not they won't be able to keep selling the war effort.
