Because "we're" EVIL sinister people who are to blame for all the World's ills. It's neither trendy or cool to smoke in this health conscience day and age, all the anti-smoking do-gooders jump on the band wagon to protest against what's become an anti-social habit.
Well FCUK 'EM that what I say, I'm a heavy smoker, it's a life choice, I don't want some sanctimonious toss-pot telling ME how I should live my life, just because it's the 'Buzz' word of the moment.
Consider this, if people didn't smoke then the NHS would go bankrupt in a day. Sounds contradictory, but without the 'smokers billions' in taxes, vital public services just would NOT survive. Politicians love to vilify smokers like they're social lepers, but not to loudly, because they know, like everyone else, they need the smokers revenue.
So light-up and be proud, smoke till your lungs bleed, happy in the knowledge that through your 'bad' habit, you're keeping a hospital baby unit open or funding a new breast screening clinic in Bolton.

It's just a nasty habit and shows that the smoker is inconsiderate to others. I put it in the same category as spitting in public. It's just nasty to observe. Smoking is even worse because of the smell permeates everything. The worst thing for me is having to sit next to a smoker for hours during a business meeting. He may not be smoking during the meeting, but the smell is still just as terrible and by the end of the meeting, I have a headache.

It's three and a half years since I packed the dirty weed in, I used to wake in the night and start smoking every opportunity I had I'd smoke but one day I said what a waste I'm buying cigs to kill myself, I know it might seem impossible but you can quit, go to see the nurse either at the hospital or doctors and get patches, If I did it anyone can, your place will smell fresher and so will you, give it a go.

Personally I can't stand smokers because I have never, ever, in my entire 23 years of life seen a smoker drop their cigarette butt anywhere but the pavement. It's so unnatractive.

I hate the fact that you go into a room, there is only one person smoking out of 30 or so people and you smell of smoke when you leave. The majority of smokers are extremely selfish, especially when they are in the minority. As for all the health problems why do they complain when they get ill from it? IT WAS SELF IMPOSED!!!!!!!!

Mainly because they smoke anywhere they please without regard to everyone else around them who maybe doesn't want to smoke along with them or smell like an ashtray.

I used to smoke and I quit. Like NATIVE NEW YORKER said, it wasn't nearly as hard as all those commercials that try to sell you patches would have you believe. All it took was a smidgen of "will power".

You want us to feel sorry for you? No way! You wanted to start smoking, so you take what comes your way. It's the non-smokers who have to breathe it all in (& sometimes come off worse through "passive smoking") that should get the sympathy.

Smokers are good people, they are willing to sacrifice their lives & die much earlier than average. thus saving the nation a fortune in pensions, etc.

how magnanimous is that !

Because most smokers are uncaring people who smoke in and around non-smokers so we can't get away from it.

As well, my mother died from lung cancer caused by smoking. If anyone has a reason to hate smoking, I do.
