if she is constantly chewing & escaping she is bored and unhappy with her home & wants out. add a 2nd cage if u have the kind that u can attach one with tubes. buy her a ball & let her run daily---up to 3 or 4 hrs, not just 15 minutes. put her in, tape the lid cuz they open, and let her run 30 min or so, give her a water break then put her back in again. do this in the evening when she's awake. she'll chew when she wants out & that means"put me in the ball!" they all want to run until they get older, then they dont mind the cage so much.

hide her food in different spots in the cage at night before u go to bed rather than putting it all ina bowl. she'll enjoy the hunt.

they do chew for their teeth--but not until they bleed or obsessively. this means--i want out! for their teeth lasts about a minute or less.

dont get her a mate if she's syrian. they r solitary. every litter of babies they have also shortens their lifespan.

Hamsters Love to Chew!! Its as simple as that! Some more than others so some people have more of a problem with this issues!

I did have a hamster than would knaw and her cage bars till her mouth bled at the sides just because she was a serial knawer! We just had to change her cage and give her safer things to knaw on.

This is how hamsters keep their teeth short sort of like a beaver does by chewing wood!

By some wood chew toys and give ur hamster some treats which are specifically for chewing and knawing on this will give her something else to focus on other than escaping - she is obviously looking for more to do so give her more 'intertainment' in her cage.

changing toys every couple of days is good rather than just putting them all in - gives the hamster the sense of finding something new to play with everyday!

Good luck! x

I raised Hamsters, my husband built a wooden square cage for my female and we lined it with tile for easy cleaning. I put a lot of toys in with her. Then one day she started to try and climb out. the vet said she was lonely so I bought a male and when she got preg. I separated them and she was OK after that. As long as she had a companion she was a happy hampster.

Try using a metal cage or an aquarium. Then make sure she has plenty of things that she CAN chew on, she is probably bored

what do you mean she's chewed through two houses? maybe you should put her in a glass tank instead!
