Your idea has merit, but some of the people who give inane answers have few if any points to take away, and probably don't care if they lose 10 points anyway. Many are out to lunch or just try to shock. The points mean little to them. It is an intriquing idea, however.

Sounds like a fun idea. But, as first responder noted, a lot of people would wind up with negative scores. Maybe just lose 2 points?

Yeah I think we should be able to do that...maybe not 10 points, cuz that is a lil harsh, I think we should be able to ban questions that are completely and utterly stupid and get points taken away from them. I am sure Yahoo did not create this for the stupid questions such as "What should I wear to school today?" "What should I eat for lunch today?" I mean COME ON....I agree..but 10 points is a lil harsh.....UGH I totally agree..

I suggested something like that too, once. I hate the "thanks for two points" ones.
But then again, anything that makes it costly to answer may not be a good idea.
It's like a game show - maybe if the loser on Jeopardy had to PAY money back, it would be more exciting. But you'd get fewer contestants.
Oh well . . .

More censorship...just what we need. Yippeee (dripping with sarcasm). I know I'll definitely lose 10 points for this. I'm sorry I've had it up to my eyeballs with this reporting and violations crap.
On the upside...Happy Halloween!!!

I think people would try to see who can get the most negative points then, instead of positive points. it would be a war of stupidity and idiocracy- then again, y! answers consists of that now!

If the person gives a smart *** answer, I can understand why. But, too many people do not judge these answers fairly and objectively, and so I say no.
