At least you realized it before you wondered what the shiny stuff in her poo was...lol
My, then 9 month old, daughter ate foil, about the size of a playing card I'd say... and I did not realize it until changing her diaper.
(I was in the kitchen and knew I dropped a piece of foil and could not find it. So I put 2 and 2 together.)
Though I am sure that it is not the best thing to eat, it will come out and she will be okay...
Sydni's came out in shreds, if that helps....
Take care!

I've never heard of a child swallowing foil. I tried looking it up but found nothing. Foil is different than just paper or anything else so I would call my doctor just to be safe.

I don't think there is an immediate problem. There is no digestion of metal that size. It should pass through though OK.

Don't call poison control. That's for chemicals. Call your doctor, if you'd like.

I kind of laughed, but don't take offense. Is she still in diapers? If so she will probably pass it and you will see it in her diaper in the next day or two. It goes right through our family dog so it should her too. If she complains of a tummy ache in the next day or two I would call a nurse practitioner for advice. She has probably eaten worse off of the floor or in someone else's home.

It is possible that there will be no problem; stomach acid attacks aluminum and can destroy it. But watch carefully for any symptoms of digestive tract distress, and be prepared for a trip to the ER if any appear.

The best thing to do is to call the paramedics just to check. If she were choking, she would've done it instantaneously when she was trying to swallow it. They'll check her airway and make sure nothing is blocking it, but if she swallowed it, it's going to most likely pass through her bowels.

I don't believe it costs anything to call a poison control center. Maybe ask them. I doubt there's any danger though.

I think I would call her doctor if I were you......Doesn't sound like something that would digest, but I guess it might pass through......ouch....that hurt my teeth just reading about it!! Can't imagine having to pass it!!!

I don't believe she'll digest the aluminum foil -- you'll see it later if you're still changing her diapers.
