There are 5 regions in the world known as Mediterranean Climatic Zones. They are - 1. the countries surrounding the Mediterranean (obviously), such as parts of France, Italy, Spain, and Greece; 2. California, USA; 3.Chile, S. America; 4. Southern Australia; and 5. South Africa. They all share warm, moderate, and dry conditions. They tend to get rain in the winter and have dry summers, whereas it is just the opposite in most of the rest of the world. For these reasons, these regions are ideal for growing grapes and producing wine. Almost all of the wine you see in the stores are from these regions.
