I work in an office of 300 people and only 5 are openly gay. That means that if you randomly pick 10 or 12 people, the most probable outcome is that none will be openly gay.

I suspect it's because in reality there are gay people, straight people, men, women, people with blue eyes, black people, white people, tall, short, thin, fat people etc. I'm glad that you know the sexual orientation of everybody you work with and that you have a degree in statistics. Perhaps you ought to get a job on the production team of a reality show given that your reality is absolute.

Based on the numbers I've heard, that means that there are probably about 10 more closeted gays in your office. Better look closely - one of them may infect you with something awful.
Like tolerance and understanding.

The actual statistic is that about one in ten people is gay...whether you know it about them or not!
Gay people are on reality TV for the same reason as everyone else - the producers want to appeal to the widest cross section of viewers. Everyone wants to see someone on TV that they can relate to!

Some say that gays have a flair for the dramatic, and they are drawn to show business. Either that or the casting directors are gay as well.

because hollywood and the media LOVE gay people and they go out of there way to find them, its ridiculous because your not supposed to discriminate people because of there sexual preference but these stupid people always have to have there "funny gay guy"
