Total with tax / (1 + tax %) = total before tax
for example, using your numbers above,
7550 / (1.1224) = pre tax
Best of luck!

Say the exact value of the base figure is X
then 100%[base] + 12.24%[tax] of X = 7550
To get a solution -
Just divide 7550 by 112.24%
or 7550/1.112.24
=
6727

There is no confusion.
It is very simple.
10 % of x
=[10/100]*x
y% of x
=[y/100]*x
10% of 155
=[10/100]*155
=15.5
total
=15.5+155
=170.5
There is another way to get
total direct.
say add 12.24% to5000
factor to multiply
=1+12.24/100
=1.1224
total
=1.224*5000
=6120

If it's 7550 inclusive of a 12.24% tax, then the original value is v = 7550/1.1224 = 6726.66 (rounded off)

Just divide instead of multiplying...
Let x be the original amount.
x + x * 0.10 = 155
x(1 + 0.10) = 155
x (1.10) = 155
x = 155 / 1.10
x = 140.9090...
Same with your other problem:
x + 0.1224 x = 7550
x (1 + 0.1224) = 7550
x (1.1224) = 7550
x = 7550 / 1.1224
x = 6726.657
In general:
Amount after taxes = Amount * (1 + percent)
x = 100 * 1.10
x = 110
And the reverse is:
Amount = Amount after taxes / (1 + percent)
x = 155 / 1.10
x = 140.9090...

#1.Case of addition of tax:
On adding 10% to 1 we get 1.1
To get the base value of 155 we write 155/1.1 = 140.9 approx
On addition of 12.24% to 1 we get 1.1224
giving us for the base value of 7550 as 7550/1.1224 = 6726.67 approx.
#2.Case of subtraction of Discount:
(Taking the case of an object of 500 available at a discount of 10% the sale price is 450)
To work out the reverse we note 1 becomes 0.9 after the discount of 10% so to get the base price from the sale price of 450 we perform the same step as before 450/0.9 = 500
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The simple rule/general method is to first find 'what becomes of 1' after tax/discount and then divide the sale price by this 'what becomes of 1'
