Why do people knock artists? Why is it because we dont make as much money we are less valuable? Why do art (dance, theater, or any other medium)? In theory we dont need it. But if you really believe that then you should just surrender you will to "big brother" right now. Art is key to the human existance. And personally I would rather be poor and happy then rich and cold. Thank you

Overrated phony, incompetent, and insulting artists give art a bad name, which clouds the judgment of normal people. So don't blame the average person for rejecting all art because of the junk that dominates these media today. Contemporary Art is so called because if you take the con out of it, it is only temporary. The next heroic age will consider the 20th Century as the Age of Trash.

I think its because people tend view them as a luxury in society. Doctors, scientists, lawyers, engineers, teachers, and computer programmers are all needed in society. Everyday life will seize to function without these jobs. When we look at artists, they are living a job that is not essential in life, but improves the quality of how we live.
This is why Arts are being cut from school at an exceptionally fast rate. Because when it comes to math and science, arts become secondary. And people at times tend to view them as an ideal lifestyle because they follow a luxury rather than a necessity.
However, I can easily argue that life without arts is not life at all.

Artists are how do we say this "we are artists," we are blessed with a gift that not all people understand. In theory we do not need it but, could you imagine a world that deprives our children to use their imagination? I could not, I believe that in the art world there is so much beauty, and talent that the whole collective has is remarkable. And you never know,as you pass on, your art could be worth millions. I am with you, you have to stay true to your heart...And if you do that, you are right on!!!

Well for one, we wouldn't have some self rightous butthead that thinks he is smarter just because he dances on a stage or reads que cards in the movies. You would do better to ask, where would they be if we didn't patronize them.
