You can lose your mucous plug a week or two before labor even starts because your cervix starts to ripen and dialate. I lost my mucous plug when I frist went into labor. I was in labor for 3 days - day one lost mucous plug. Day 2 - water broke. Day 3 - baby came out. Your water will break as you dialate during labor. GOOD LUCK with the birth.

I have 6 children and only lost my mucos plug with 2 of them ,and my water never broke on its own, they always waited till i was 5 cm,then broke my water. So no you do not have to experience these things to go into labor.

Yes, you can start labor without water breaking first, although, you probably need to lose the plug first. But you can't always tell that you've lost it because it could be when you pee in the middle of night when you are not paying attention.

Personally, with my first, my water didn't break before I went into labor but I did lose my mucous plug before I started getting labor pains. They broke my water during delivery.

Yes, labor can start without seeing a mucous plug or your water breaking.
I lost my plug with the first one but not with the second one.

You can. You don't have to see any ting. But, before hard labor, you will have contractions. When they get to five min. apart for a period of an hour or two go to the hospital. If you are worried call your doctor or go to the hospital. They will be more than happy to see you. It's better to be safe than sorry.
