Hello Adi,
To view your processes, move your cursor to the grey task bar at the bottom of the screen, right click and then select Task Manager. (Or you could press "Ctrl", "Alt" and "Delete" - either way will get you there.)
The Applications tab will show you what tasks you are currently running. The processes tab will show you all processes.
You can stop any Application or Process by clicking on it then selecting End Task (or End Process depending on what tab you are in).
Be careful though because most of the processes that are running are what keeps the computer going so if you end them you could cause damage to your system.
Your computer could be slow because you need to delete non-running programs and files - you could have a build up of files that are using memory even though they are not important.
I suggest you run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmentor. Also you can download a very good utility called CCleaner from here:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
Click on "Download Latest Version" next to the green arrow.
I use this daily after I have been online. It deletes all temporary internet files, and a host of other rubbish from your computer.
Once installed, click "Analyse" to see what can be deleted then click "Run Cleaner" to offload them.
I hope this helps. If your computer is still running slow, or if you are having problems, send me an email and I can try to clean up your system for you. It could be possible that you have a virus or a hijack.

the simplest way is CTRL+ALT+DEL and choose task manager.
you can click on it and then "end task" at the lower part of the window. This should end the process.
A word of advice: windows runs a lot of processes. Before you start closing processes, go online and just type the name of the process in a search engine. See what the result is and make sure that it is not a required process. If you close a needed one, something might stop working or the computer may shut down. You always need to restart to get everything running again.
Also, if you see that the number of processes that you don't are a lot, I would advice in formatting and reinstalling everything....

Go to Run and type MSCONFIG. Then click on the Startup tab. You will find all the programs listed here which are starting with the computer. Disable all here except your Antivirus/Firewall sw. You can also check out all the startup programs that are listed here in the following website to checkout if they are needed for your computer or not.

Press CTRL+ALT+Delete, and then end some of the processes and applications that are taking up high resource usage.
Or open the Run menu, and type in "msconfig" (without ") and go to the Start-Up tools, and uncheck some of the un-nessisary things that are there. That means your computer will have less things starting up when it boots.

hit control alt delete and hit processes. Get a computer nerd to help you figure out which ones are safe to end. My hubby does it all the time, especially when he's playing a game that takes a lot.

If you hit CTRL ALT DELETE and then click on the the processes tab you can see everything that is running on your computer. Of course, it takes some experience and prior knowledge to know which programs are necessary or part of windows, and which programs are malicious.
