Our daughter is 10 months and has been fighting her morning naps. I'll put her down for her nap and she just lays there playing for a while before drifting off. She goes right to sleep when I put her in for her second nap of the day.

When do they generally stop needing more than one nap a day?

Many thanks!

My son dropped down to one nap between 10 and 11 months, I tried to make him take both naps for 2 weeks before finally giving in. The longer you can get 2 naps out of them the better, the average is around 15 months but every baby is different.

My son is a year old now and he is only taking one nap a day and that is usually for about 3 hours.

My daughter stopped taking her 2nd nap around 15 months. She probably would've stopped earlier, but she fights going to bed at night and I have to wake her up in the morning to take her to Grandma's so I can go to work.

My daughter just started dropping down to one nap a day when she turned 12 months. But even that alone time for your little girl is good for her, especially the fact that she is putting herself to sleep. That's great and will help you immensly when switching her to a toddler bed.

All babies are different-trust your instincts about things like this and try to avoid comparisons to other babies. If she is content to lie there and play for a while, good for her. it shows she knows how to comfort herself, and she is getting "rest". Maybe you can soon switch to quiet activity instead of a full-fledged nap at this time...consider reading time or puzzles suitable to her age. If she does not watch too much TV, a soothing kids music video might also be a nice activity.

My son was almost 2 and still taking 2 naps.

If she doesn't want to nap you don't ahve toput her down but if she is content to just lay in the crib and play, it's not going to hurt her. Give you some time to clean, shower, relax, whatever.

My son started taking one nap at one year. You just have to moniter when will be a good time to pull back. Let her body language tell you when she is ready. Sounds like you are getting close though. Good luck!

i'm incredibly effective my daughter started taking one nap an afternoon around 10-twelve months previous. in case you twins do no longer decide to take a sleep and don't look overly drained as quickly as its mattress time then they could desire to be ok!

Around a year is when they generally stop taking more than one a day. It's different for each of them though. Just use your best judgement and decide if you think she needs another one.
