mario brothers 3 help for the 80's nes nintendo?

i get a mushroom then i get a feather on the game. i'm supposed to be able to fly now, right? what buttons do i need to push in order to fly.

lets get things straight...

there are three ways to fly

the feather wasn't introduced until super mario world on the super nintendo. it allowed mario to glide, which was akin to flying.

in smb3, if you had a leaf (which gives raccoon tail and ears) you could spin by pushing B, which could break bricks, hurt many enemies, hit items boxes, etc.

if you held in B, it would allow you to run really fast while you walked. when you ran fast enough (the six or seven arrows near your score at the bottom will be filled in (white in color) and a weird noise will be heard. you can continue holding B, i reccomend holding it in, but it is the A button you must continuously push to fly. after a while, you would lose your wind, and stop flying. if you kept pushing A while you fell, you would go down to the ground much slower.

if you had a tanooki suit, first available on world map four (giant land), you could use the same method to fly, with the added bonus of becoming a statue when you pushed down and B at the same time. this would halt your flying, but you can not be physically harmed while a statue.

if you use an item called a pegasus wing, which looks like a wing with a P on it, you can fly as much as you want, but regular jumps aren't possible, nor is falling (which can be useful in some situations) so a pegasus wing is not ALWAYS helpful.

You have to find a good place where there are no enemies, obstacles or pits to fall on to.

Then press and hold the 'B' button to run fast and when the arrows light up all the way to the space that has a letter 'P', press 'A' to jump.

[This is where my memory becomes shaky]
You'll jump high and then to keep flying you might want to try pressing up on the +Control Pad and/or press 'A' repeatedly.

I don't remember the EXACT buttons, but I know you need to run fast on a straight path and it will make a twinkle kind of noise and you need to keep pressing one of the 2 buttons and it will kind of float you up, it isnt going to be a constant flying thing though. If you stop pressing the button, you will stop flying.

you run really fast until all the bars at the top light up then punch the A button over and over again until your flying power runs out then do it again. I think it is the A button. That was my favorite game though. :-)

after you've gotten the feather and you are half raccoon, just run until you pick up speed and then jump and keep tapping the jump button to stay air born

you hold the run button down until you hear some weird sound, then you jump and press the jump button consecutively until the boost is over, God I miss that game!

Simple, hlod down B, then start running once the meter at the bottom fills all the was up, you jump! and off you go!
