My Computer is running really slow when connected to the internet.

Yesterday I freed up about 30% Disk space on my C Drive. Then I Defragmented it.

Then I connected to the Web it was Fine and then all of a sudden it began running slow.

Any Ideas what could be causing this?
Any Idea How to fix it?

I have no security on at the Moment
Thankyou

as you have said you have no security, this will be your problem,it is stated that a p.c without protection will be infected within 30 minutes of being on the internet,so its a good bet that you have spyware or a virus on your p.c
my bet is that you have spyware,so the first stop should be to download and install these free programs
1)spybot...http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
2)adaware personal....http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/ad-aware_se_personal.php
these will clean any spyware/adware that has found its way on to your p.c,after you have done this you should notice a improvement in your p.c,s speed
next you need to install anti-virus software(this is important) go to http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html,and download the latest version of the avast 4.7 anti-virus,this is very easy to install and will be up and running in less than 5 minutes
as long as you install these programs your p.c should be o.k ,scan your p.c with each program and then scan every week thereafter, this will keep on top of new infections that come out
also (apart from the anti-virus) update the programs before you scan,so you get any new updates to help your scan
follow these instructions and your p.c should be fine once the scans are completed
good luck

Edit* Besure to update them through the options of each program before you scan so it can pick up on newer types of spyware.
