B cells, when they encounter the correct antigen on their cell surface (via surface immunoglobulins), will differnetiate into a specialized cell called a plasma cell.

It is specialized because it is now programmed to "dump" out tons of antibody into blood plasma to neutralize the antigen it recognized as foreign.

Thanks for the great question. Pass on the good Karma!

No, a lymphocyte is cell found in the immune system and a T-cell receptor is located on the T-cell (or lymphocyte) and it recognizes and reacts to foreign bodies in the blood stream. A gene is a part of a chromosome, a section of genetic material (usually DNA) that can code for hair color, length of toes, whether you will or will not develop some disorder, etc. They are completely different.

The three major types of plasma proteins are: Albumin, globulins, and fibrinogen.

Albumin helps maintain a balance between the amount of fluid that leaves and enters the blood vessels.

Globulins help protect the body from disease.

Fibrinogens prevents excessive loss of blood from injured vessels, i.e., clotting factors.
