No they are not the same. I looked on ebay a couple of months ago for a dictation machine and found that there are, in total three forms of tape cassette:
1) the standard full-size tape we all know and love
2) Mini-cassettes - the larger of the two dicta-phone formats
3) Micro-cassettes - the smaller of the dicta-phone formats
I'm not sure whether there is any significant quality difference, but I know that you will not be able to play mini-cassettes in a micro-player or vice versa.
Hope this helps

RE:
Could someone tell me the difference between a mini-cassette recorder and a micro-cassette recorder?
Or are they one and the same?

When It Comes To Cassette Recorders I Guess Both The Same, Cause I Havent Heard Any Thing As A Mini Cassette Recorder but Micro Cassette does exist cause I do have one..

I have both tape sizes. The micro cassette is smaller and the mini cassette is larger (just a bit). The micro cassette will fit in my transcribing machine. the mini cassette is just a tad bit larger and will not fit in my transcriber. I just tried it.

Micro is the small ones used for recording lectures and stuff.

Mini is just the standard cassette tape.
