I have a car that has just been sitting for awhile and I think the gas in the tank has turned to sludge. Is there something that I can pour into the tank to return the gas to normal? Or as normal as I can get it?

Gasoline doesn't "turn to sludge" but it can evaporate and lose potency. How much is in the tank? If it's below a half or close to empty, I'd just add to it. There are products that will help to stabilize fuel for long time storage that you could try. Seafoam (available in most auto parts stores) seems as good as any.

It's not a good idea. There's stuff that will dissolve it, but then you're forcing whatever the hell it is through the engine. You should drain as much as you can and refill it all the way with gas.
