I have over 1 gig of RAM. I defragmented, emptied internet file folders, I have high speed cable. After I added the memory my computer worked great. Then microsoft did an auto upgrade and it is slow again.

Go to TOOLS, then pick Internet Options. Hit the botton to DELETE COOKIES and DELETE FILES. Check the box to delete all off line content.

I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

Spybot does a great job cleaning and protecting your registry
Ad-aware scans files and helps to remove these threats.

Good luck

Maybe it's not Microsoft - maybe the shared cable bandwidth is becoming saturated when used during peak hours.

I have IE7 on a system with 256 MB of RAM and a dial-up connection - the performance is as good as it will get.

I used Firefox 1.5.0.7 and the browser was using 100 MB of RAM and slowed everything down. I hear Firefox 2.0 improved the memory issue - but I'll wait before downloading. IE7 is using 38 MB according to Task Manager - I have 4 tabs open, PeoplePC and OpenOffice 2.0.4.

when is the last time you did a defrag?
or a system clean.

Go to your start button... All Programs.... Accessories... system tools... Disk Cleanup,
then do the same thing to get to System tools and do Disk Defragmenter... Defragment.

You can also sign onto a web page go to your tools tab... Internet Options.... Delete Cookies, and Delete files. Be sure to check the box for all offline content.
Hope that helps.
