Taking them OUT on Black Friday would definately be a challenge since typically hundreds will be in line to put things INTO layaway. Also, since nobody knows in advance what items will be on sale on BF, it's tough to guess what to put in.

As far as WalMart is concerned, they are definately doing away with their layaway department nationwide as it's not as much of a money producer as it used to be: most people are opting to charge items and get instant gratification instead of waiting and paying them off first in layaway. You may want to check with the supervisor at your local WalMart to find out the closing date.

Well in the days of great sales, it was a great way to not miss out on the sale and still make payments. Nowadays, I think some people like the idea that a specific thing is there waiting for them when they finish the payments. Not just a general, I'm gonna save some money and then go buy some tv. They know exactly what they are working for and what the goal is.

I don't know about the sales, sorry. I do know that they're ending layaway on Nov 19th though.

Not sure but I heard on TV that Wal-Mart was doing away with Layaway. Not sure when it's going to happen.
