Generally, the E320 is a good performer for a 4500 pound sedan. How many miles on your 11 year old E320? What car are you comparing the MBz to? Have you had a recent tune up to include new spark plugs, ignition timing, wiring, and test drive, etc? If you live in CA, you could go to a TEST ONLY Smog Check Station where a standard Smog Test will give you a computerized print out of the car's emissions. If some componet has failed, it will usually specify the area or source of the failure from the exhaust gases emitted.

Put a good spark plugs in it, I mean GOOD. Change your oil to syntetic. See if you can find K&N air filter for it. Thats about it, unless you want to mess with a chip, which will not be cheap. Good luck.
