I have a 1999 Mustang. When I run the A/C I can see liquid running down onto the floor on the passenger side. On a long enough trip the entire floor is soaked on that side of my car, even behind the seat. The liquid does not seem to have a color or an odor so I have assumed that it is simply condensation from the A/C. Is this a big problem?

The drain from your evaporator coil could be stopped up. Find the drain point under the hood. Usually on the passenger side of the vehicle near the firewall. Be sure it is clear of dirt, leaves, debris, etc..

It's not a big problem however left unresolved, you can cause the carpet to start to rot away. not to mention rusting the floor board out of the car over time. What has most likely cause the problem is the drain hole in the Exchange box (that's the box inside the car) has become clogged. there is a hole that allows this water to run out side the car. If it becomes clogged it collects in the box until it finds another way out ( the wetness on the floor) I would take it too your repair shop and have them crack in to the box and clean the hole out so the water will drain. It may cost a little money in labor but there should be no parts what would need to be replaced.

It's probably the A/C discharge line that is supposed to discharge the condensation outside the vehicle. If you allow it to continue it could possibly rot the floor pans and definitely will aquire a moldy smell! Sure you don't have anti-freeze? Because that would be the heater core. If it's just clear water then it's the A/C discharge line. Then of course you might have a leaky windshield that is allowing water in and it's finding way to the floor!

This is probably condensation from the Air Conditioner. It is supposed to drain through a hose to drip under the car. The drain is probably stopped up. It will be a problem in that it will cause the floor board to rust out. check with your dealer, or and independent mechanic as to how to remedy this.

If it is condensation from the evaporator you'll need to check the drains in the evaporator/heater core housing. These need to be working, or you could have tons of trouble down the road.

The drains get clogged with slime mold sometimes. You need to fix it or watch the rust happen.

look under there, sounds like you just have a hose off, you should be able to just put it back on unless it's cracked. Still should be an easy fix. Wish I lived somewhere we still needed air!
