I buy good chocolate in the hopes that we don't give it all out.

I buy what I can afford that year. I'd like to buy the good stuff but sometimes it's the cheap candy.

I like to give tasty candy and chocolate. Things that me and my husband like to eat. Tootsie Rolls, Twix, Hersheys

I also like to give other things other than candy. Here are some of the other things that I have given out before:
small bag of chips or little container of pringles
pencills, colored pencil sticks that change colors
stickers and necklaces
juice, can of pop

We have a basket and then they can choose two things from the basket. (Maybe three things if you know the person)

I buy the mini-snickers, and m&ms, butterfingers, and those assortments with milky way and others. I will let them pick two or three of the mini candy bars, or if it is a slow night, maybe a little more.

I'm not about to start passing out boxes of Godiva for Halloween.

Well that depends on what you define as good or cheap. I bought Mars and Hershey Co assortments and the Airheads and nerds assortment. Is that considered cheap? Besides I don't know where you're from but I'm sure no one is handing out Godiva chocolates. LOL :)

I give out candy that I think I would like as a kid (i.e., snickers and milky way bars) and then throw in a tootsie roll pop for good measure. The kids seem to like it.

I buy candy that's wrapped. there is no point of buying cheap candy if you know the kids won't eat it.

I buy the good stuff that has been made in a "peanut free" facility. That, and this year I bought little bags of Doritos for something different.
