I watch for first time last night, I get the premise and will pick up on most as I go. But please explain the situation between the married couple. The girl with 2 identities and her husband who blends(?) What are their powers or do we know yet?

She, Nikki, has a dark split personality that apparently possesses superhuman strength. She has killed many, often by ripping them apart.
Her husband, DL, has just shown up on the show. Last night was the first time we were introduced to his powers. He can pass through matter it seems. That goes along with his reference to walking "through" the front door at the prison. We don't know yet the extent of his power, for example if someone shoots him can he let the bullets pass through him?
That's the skinny on those two. I hope it helps!
As for the adopted Dad, he is part of an organization that is aware of these new "heroes" and has some sinister plan to use them. We don't know their motivation yet. He has at least one "mutant" working with him that has the ability to wipe out memory. He is on the trail of just about everyone, the cop, the politician, the geneticist's son, his own daughter, and now the artist.

Nicki's power is that she has a dual personality that allows her to be a good person and a person that can do evil. Her husband actually has been on the lam and wasn't seen until last night's episode.
My favorite characters are Hiro (time stopper and traveler) and Claire (the indestructible cheerleader). It's a great show!

Nikki and DL were separated at the beginning of the show. She borrowed 25,000 dollars from a loan shark and could not pay the 30,000 back in time, It got bumped to 50, 000. She borrowed the money to put Micah through school. They came to collect. She strips on the internet to make money so they wanted to take some of it out in trade. Next thing you know they are all dead. Then their bodies are all missing Then she is having to bury them from out of her trunk in a spot loaded with other dead bodies. The bad guys give her another chance to pay off her debt by sleeping with a guy who happens to be the heroe candidate in LasVegas. She refuses but, suddenly her super side kicks in and kills the guy who is threatening her. She then goes upstairs and goes buck wild on the candidate. They film the sex and clear her debt though she has no idea what she has done. She comes home and the police are there to tell her DL has escape and may be looking for her. He gets into the house and she forgives him for being gone but warns him that she has changed. He thinks she is talking about the porn. He tells her he will find out who set him up. She goes out while they slept and kills all of them. He is telling the son that he can not be held in by any place. She meets her other self and learns that she has been doing all the killings and that she has 2,000,000 dollars in the attic. Dl catches her and tries to attack her. Her super self takes over and starts using her super strength to toss DL around like he is nothing. Micah walks in on them and distracts her. DL shuffs his hand through her and chokes her showing he can pass through matter. He then takes Micah and runs. In short, she can astroproject her personality out of her body and take on a new identity that has super strength and has no problem killing you. DL can pass through solid matter, walls, whatever. Micah is a question mark but it seems he can recognize powers and maybe read minds.
As for Claire's supposed adopted father. He brought in the fake parents to try and keep Claire from finding out that he knew who her real parents were all along and from learning that she was probably kidnapped. The adopted father seems to be working for the military along with a bald headed black guy who can wipe people's minds and a girl named Eden who is shadowing the Professor for information as he searches for the truth about his father. My guess is his father is alive and in hiding. He may in fact be the missing super Sylar. At any rate, Claire is getting stronger and hard to wipe of her memory. She is learning that she is indestructable. She figures her parents must be likewise. Her adopted father apparently thought that too at some point and went after them. There is no telling if they are alive or not but he is hiding something. Either he killed them and is hiding that, or they are super and he is hiding the fact that Claire was kidnapped. At any rate those ore your answers to the questions you asked.

The only thing I would suggest is to try and see the series from the beginning when they rerun it.
