Kerry's vulgar statement is an insult to every soldier who ever died for his country . For anyone , let alone a former presidential candidate to say if you don't" make an effort to be SMART" by "getting an education and doing well ", "you'll end up in Iraq".
Many fine men & women , close to getting their degrees & even those with degrees have interrupted their studies to fight for their country . Apparently John Kerry just couldn't help but reveal his loathing for America's brave Armed Forces . Kerry is a disgrace to America once again .

You'll have to look for it on you-tube ; can't count on the drive-by media airing it .

I think his botox injections seeped into his brain. He's now saying he was joking, but we all know what he meant. He's an evil, disgusting excuse for a man, and a coward and traitor as well, but everyone already knows that.
Now we know why he wasn't elected. He's an arrogant fool and the people of this country knew that and didn't vote for him. I'm glad the majority of Americans were smart enough to see through his idiocy. This guy is a total buffoon.
Kerry is the October surprise for the Republicans !!

Like it or not, but if one looks at this honestly, Kerry was right.
Yeah sure.. many fine men and women with good educations do join the military but they are miniscule in number.
The sad fact is that a HUGE MAJORITY of military personnel - especially the ones in the Army serving as infantrymen and other support personnel - come from less privileged backgrounds. They possess limited education and are faced with scant opportunities within the private sector. Indeed the military sells itself as a place to garner skills and to help pay for higher education so that these people can eventually get jobs in the private sector.
Unfortunately for Kerry, although he was absolutely right, his statement was the epitome of political incorrectness and will hurt the Democrats.

Is slipped up and let the opinion of the left wing about those who defend this country out in the open. Now watch the rats scurry around trying to make the issue go away. Remarks like His should be grounds for censure by the senate and those who are in his district should demand his resignation. He must have been hopped up on pain killers to say such a dumb thing. Guess he will have to check into the rehab center like so many politicians that get caught doing dumb things in public. Perhaps the group discount for dummycrats will save his wife some of her millions.

You don't understand much do you, Im guessing your a mad conservative who likes to interprete things the wrong way for your side. He was being sarcastic you idiot, along with some truth. He knows the current administration is going to prolong this war for as long as possible, if not invade another country after or during this mess, and in turn will cause the need for more troops. And where are they going to come from? People who are living tough times and need help with college tuition, or people who are working shi* jobs who have nothing else because they could not or did not go to college for whatever reason. These warmongers are even raising the age limit to get people into the Armed Forces so even more Americans might fall into the trap of joining while these madmen are in charge. Are there college educated people joining the Armed Forces? Sure. But the majority of people this administration plans on getting to die for oil or whatever we are there for is the young, uneducated, and the hopeless who see that going into the military might be a last resort but the only decision they have. Who paid for your college if you went? Would it not be tempting to go to Iraq for a paid college education? This is the trap for many. Give me a enemy who truely threatens our country and I'll go back into the Army and fight til death. If you think this war is about protecting freedom your dead wrong, this is a war of business. And it was not the 19 terrorists who destroyed the Twin Towers who started this war, it was Bush and a big lie. What happened to the war in Afghanistan? But if you think that Kerry is a disgrace to America, what in the world do you think of this illiterate, thoughtless, silverspooned traitor we call president? I was a republican once but this party has turned against their base and is now just a party of disgrace and hypocrisy. I thought about switching to the blue but I am now an Independent as of 2 years after the first Bush win against Gore. The System Has Failed due to the fact we have business and corporate powers controling most of our politicians, we should be ashamed of our whole system and fire every politician, judge, lawmaker, and rid politics of lobbyists and money, and start over. What am I ashamed of? My country and what it's become, it's no longer about the people, it's big business, capitalism gone bad. This control over our system will only lead to a class war that is already happening, expect the worse in the near future if things don't change. You will forget all about international terrorists when the domestic ones come out of the woodwork, if you think the Dept. of Justice has them under control, think again. This president is the worst person we could have in charge at this moment in time. Get honest and quit attacking good people.

Pardon me Veda.
Map there are tons of choices for those who choose not to go to college. Mechanics is a high paying profession. Air Conditioning Repairmen make small fortunes where I live. There are many, many trades in this country and many apprenticeships available in them. The idea that if you don't go to college your only choice is the Army is ridiculous.

American troops are stupid. John Kerry just made public something everybody already knew. Even the U.S. Government admits this. That is why army recruiters target poor neighborhoods with uneducated youth. If you're not smart enough to goto college you will end up in the army.

Since you asked the question twice I'll repeat my answer:
Kerry was saying that someone with an education has more choices than someone without one. If a kid can't go to college for whatever reason one of the few choices left to him in the army. If things continue they way they have been there is a good chance that kid will end up in Iraq. Should Kerry apologize for telling the truth? Welcome to the real world.
