Is there a way to add more memory to a laptop computer?
Do you buy memory sticks like a home base?

Yes.
Yes.

The memory sticks (modules) are smaller than those for desktops, and they ususally have a different number of pin connections.

The first thing you need to do is find the exact model & type number of your laptop. This is usually located somewhere on the unit's case or cover. Then take this info to the manufacturer's website.

There you will learn what specific type of RAM it uses as well as if it has a vacant slot for adding another module. If not, you will need to remove the existing module & replace it with one that provides more memory.

Most units are designed so that RAM is user upgradable. If you feel uncertain about doing this yourself I suggest finding a memory retailer who is willing to do this for you.

Yes, you can add more memory to laptops. Instead of using those regular bulky ram modules that pc's use, laptops use memory called SDRAM SODIMM memory. They are smaller in length.

To see if an available upgrade is available, check with some memory manufacturer's websites.

Some trusted memory manufacturers:

Crucial
Kingston
OCZ Technologies
Patriot
Mushkin

Some of the companies listed above have a memory search feature. You just input the laptop brand and model and it will search their database for compatible memory.

Agree with previous poster except that SD-RAM is not specific to laptops. Check with those memory sites he gave for memory for your laptop.
