15/40 + 4/40 = 19/40 (add 2 zeros to the 19 and divide by 40)
1900/40 = 47.5% move the decimal point 2 places to the left and you get .475.

If the walking & Jogging are in the same direction the answer would be (3/8)+(1/10) = 0.375+0.100 = 0.475 (or 19/40) of a mile
If the jogging is in the reverse direction the answer would be
(3/8) - (1/10) = 0.375-0.100 = 0.275 (or 11/40) of a mile

15/40+4/40=19/40 of a mile
or you could convert both to decimals
3/8=.375; 1/10=.1
.375+.1=.475 miles
19/40=.475 so the answers are the same.
