I have an ipod and I use it to store music and also a lot of auxillary files for a program I use. I also download songs off the net. The ipod keeps wiping itself clean and everything vanishes.
Could it be the files or the music off the net which is corrupting it?

iPods dont 'wipe themselves clean'.. you are pushing the wrong button somewhere,,,, you dont need itunes to put non media files on it, just put them on through 'my computer'

(make sure you virus-scan everything with antivirus before putting on iPod)

it depends what kind of ipod you have, but it sounds like your harddrive might be disconnecting. it happened to me a bunch with my old ipod, the best thing to do is take it into apple or a best buy and let them look at it.
