What can we expect from people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and those who give themselves screen names like Michael Shake Fox?

First of all, I don't think they are "compassionate conservatives". They are pure, right-wing, hard-line conservatives. On the other hand, a compassionate conservative should be respectful of other's views and positions and work to ease the burden of those who are weighed down in society. Are there any politicians out there who are really following that ideal? You got me. But I do know the faces of those you mentioned are not the faces of the Republican Party, or shouldn't be. Any educated American will look beyond the media anyway and look at the real issues. Both parties swing and tilt the media, the records and promises are all we can go by. Vote for the better person, who you feel will fight for what you feel is important, whether they be Republican or Democrat.

More like compassionate government is an oxymoron. Ideologies aside, no one person is going to make everyone happy. This is espeically true in government! If a republican is in office the democrats will not be happy and vice-versa. Unfortunately, I believe the times of compassion for the people of this country are gone. It is now about who can offer big business the best bottom line regardless of the harm done to the people. It is unfortunate but I do believe compassioante conservatism is not possible because the conservative agenda is to cut taxes to the benefit of the wealthiest of people to create jobs which pay at or below a living wage. It is sad when you consider the economy today and listen to people saying it is great or wonderful because of all these jobs being created until you look at the bottom line of real dollars and disposable income which has gone down significantly for the middle and working classes.

Right. But it's OK for the foreigner to make millions in this country and refuse to become an American. It's OK for him to get involved in this country's political system when he is not a member of this country. And it's OK for him to lie to the people he's trying to convince. He didn't stop taking his medicine when he campaigned for Republican Specter. Or maybe his meds just kicked in earlier the day he shot the ad for the Republican.

It is one of the biggest oxymorons of all time.

The likes of Coulter and Limbaugh ensure that I don't ever vote Republican.
