Dress up as P.C. Plod; open the door and say in that police-type voice " 'Allo, 'allo, 'allo, what's going on 'ere then? Did you know you need a licence for this kind of begging?"
That way, not only do you scare them off, but scare them too, which should make them happy on Hallowe'en. And if you get dressed up yourself, no-one can say you're a mean old grump because you've joined in the "fun".

Answer the door and give em some lovely tooth decaying candy - hopefully it will induce hyperactivity thereby causing their parents a sleepless night - they won't be back next year!

Just ignore them.
Turn off all your house lights and close blinds and/or curtain's.
They should only be doing it one day a year, so live with it; and if they are doing it when its not Halloween then call the cops...

If they ask nicely, chanting "Trick or Treat," be a gracious host and give them some candy.
If they rudely demand it, give them last year's candy.

ummm I think you should turn the hose on them ro better yet nake pudding and fill balloons with it sit on your roof and when kids go up to your door toss the balloons at them...lol Have a great halloween!

easy why not just answer the door and be nice it saves a lot of hassel in the long run would,nt you say. did you know it is halloween. we learn something every day.
