i'm an independent, but for all intents and purposes, right now i'm a democrat. the current republicans are horrid. there are better republicans out there than the ones in power now.
anyhow, i'm against abortion in general, i dont like the idea of it at all, other than in cases of rape and incest. but, i dont think you can condone rape to prevent murder. i dont think that if a girl gets raped you can say "well, thats too bad... but, you cant do anything about it, so have fun with your baby".
i dont like abortion, but i dont think i have the right to make it illegal. and i dont think its a "woman's choice". did she make a baby alone? i think it should be a "couple's choice".
but, who am i to tell someone what to do with their body?

I am really more of a libertarian, but I tend to lean right and I consider myself more of a Republican than a Democrat. I have always been pro-choice, but as I get older, my views are changing a little. I am still pro-choice in cases of rape and incest, but I think that people using abortion as a form of birth control should be spayed like a dog. Like welfare, legal abortion looks really good on paper, but the practice...not so much.
A very close friend of mine works for Planned Parenthood and met some ladies from a PP clinic in NYC. That one clinic performs more than sixty thousand abortions a year. SIXTY THOUSAND! And that's only one clinic. I think one of the saddest things about abortion is that the legality of it has been so severely abused - people no longer have to deal with consequences of their actions.
When I was a teen, I did not want any parental notification, but as I've gotten older, and learned more about the way of the world and how many sick bastards there are out there, I am very much for parental notification (with some formal method to protect abused girls). To not inform parents is to enable pedophiles.

This question is going to plague society forever. There really is a minimal middle ground with this issue.
I feel abortion is wrong. A life is being taken and that's a fact.
I also think governmental interference in this issue is wrong. The government tries to control us and control of a woman's body is her right.
Perhaps a middle ground that would reduce abortions would be more sex education (maybe), a better system for adoption and more moral support for women who choose to carry unwanted pregnancies to term.
What I don't want is women being forced to undergo unsafe abortions or being put in jail for abortion.
Like I said, a difficult problem. But keep the government out of it.

If I had to throw myself in any of these confining boxes I'd call my self a liberal. I personally am against abortion period, but I am a supporter for women being able to make the choice themselves. Aborting your child is unacceptable, but who am I or any other human to tell you that you can't do that. I think the problem here is also that the bible in Revelations tells us that women will start killing their children. We recognize abortion as this - a sign of Armageddon. We are trying our best to prevent that. If we make it illegal to legally abort a pregnancy we are giving the law more powerful over a woman's body. Also unacceptable. It will not make people more responsible when having sex...it didn't the first time. What it did do was have women find alternative means of aborting which can prove dangerously harmful.

That's a hard question. I know there are a lot of people who can not take care of children, but there is also a lot of people that would love a baby ( like me) Maybe the government or our political leaders should make it easier for people to adopt and not charge them out the rear, maybe just maybe a lot more people would not have abortions if they knew that the child would not be stuck in an orphanage or some place and not have a good normal life.

I am a Christan Conservative and a Republican and I am against Abortion and here is why;
I believe that Abortion is Wrong and Abortion is Murder and there are five people in the history of the world who are against abortion and my five people are;
1. God - God (as presented in the Holy Bible) is the Creator of life and the creator of all living things and he created both man and woman.
2. Jesus Christ - Jesus gave his life on the cross to pave for our sins and for us to have an everlasting life.
3. Mother Theresa - She devoted her life to helping the poor and she would be against it because she believe that life was important for living.
4. The Pope - The Pope is the Leader of the Roman Catholic Church and he would be against abortion because the Bible forbiddens Murder and the Catholic Church is against abortion.
5. George Washington - George Washington put his life on the line so that the United States of America could have freedom and he strongly believed in freedom and life.
I also believe that the purpose of the American Government is to serve God because the United States of America was founded under Christian Principles and the United States is "One Nation Under God."

I am a Rep Con and am in favor of first term abortion only (I think 2nd is too late). It doesn't bother me, and it keeps children from being born into homes where the parents didn't want them. Do I like to think about abortion? No. But is it my right to tell others what to do with their bodies? No

What about conservative democrats and liberal republicans (yes they do exist). Don't their opinions count? How about non republicans and non-democrats (they also exist)?
