I am 16...I have been dating my boyfriend for 6 months now. We want to have sex...but we want to be as safe as possible. The problem, my parents are holy rollers and would flip out if I asked them to put me on birth control. I have tried asking them if I could be put on it to regulate my period etc.
My question is: Is there anyway to get BC without parents sig? Or is a condom (male or female) just as effective?

Yes it is. Go to planned parenthood. It is confidential and they will help you.

Pills are just as effective, but will not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases. Pills also have a strict schedule. You cant forget to take them, and they should be taken at the same time everyday.

You dont need your parents consent any more to get birth control. Go to your doctors and ask for some advice about birth control. They will be more than happy to help. I dont know where you live but over here in England we have Family Planning Clinics that offer advice and birth control. The male and female condom are just as effective they not also control conception but also stop diseases from spreading. Good luck hun and be careful xx

The only thing the Pill will do for you is to protect you against preganacy. It will not shield you from diseases. It needs to be taken around the same time every single day. You cannot miss a pill.

Planned Parenthood would be able to answer all of your questions.

While I think it is very smart that you want to be safe, why not consider taking it slower at your age?

Even if you start taking the Pill, you need to always use a condom. You never know if your BF has something he doesn't know about or if down the road he might catch something.

You can go to a free or low cost health center like Planned Parenthood and get on birth control with out parental consent or a signature. They will ask you some questions about your, health, sexual history etc. Then you and the counselor will determine what form of birth control will be best for you and your partner. Good for you for being cautious and careful before acting.

Depends on where you live re: the pill.

Always, Always, please use a condom, no matter what other birth control you use. You must protect against STD's. My friend just got cervical cancer because she had sex at an early age and got the HP Virus.

Best not to have sex yet if you can possibly rethink it. At 16 you don't yet know how much you may regret it later and you can never change it.

You take a lot of chances relying just on a condom. Look up Planned Parenthood or a County Family Planning clinic in the phone book and call them, you can get birth control without parental permission.

Check in your area to see if there are any clinics that will help you. Sometimes there are pregnancy crisis clinics. A condom can be effective just be careful. I know you are 16 and you probably already have your mind made up but remember you can only have your first time once. Good luck

Definately get on the pill, go to your local planed parenthood or free clinic, you will not need parental consent to get on the pill. Also always make sure to use condoms, because the pill or patch does not protect against STD's

In my opinion I think 16 is too young. But if you are determined to do so you should go to planned parent hood. they will help you without telling your parents anything. they will give you birth control and condoms. please try to wait cause its not worth it but if you do want to have sex be safe and get the help before you have sex to make sure you don't catch anything or get pregnant.

Use both medication and condom at all times! Safe as possible. You can get a BC prescription from a family doctor and he HAS to remain silent about it. That's a law.
