I take it you didn't discuss payscale at the interview. So are you going in as a Sales Associate or Department Manager of the Electrical Department?
If it is as an associate I would imagine you would start at the base wage or maybe just above slightly since you have some experience - if you are going in any higher up the management team then wage should have been discussed already I would have thought.
Good Luck and have fun in your new position... Great customer service and product knowledge will take you a long way :-)

Surprised they did the drug testing before the hire humm but I guess every place does it different.
If you are starting as an Associate - don't be surprised if you are offered around the entry level wage. But ask at that time when increases usually come along (3 month review, 6 month reveiw or a year??) Thats not out of the question to find out. You can even ask what is the normal raises at that time - is it based on performance, how the company is doing?? At least this will give you something to go from. I don't know what the wages are in Ca so I can't help you out there.

I had a friend who was a cashier at Home Depot about 7yrs ago, and he made $15/hr. Since your in California, you should be able to get at least $20/hr, but let them make the intial offer. Depending on your need for a job, you cetaintly don't want to lose the opportunity by asking for too much pay. Although, pay is usually the most negotiable at the beginning. Good luck! Thank you for serving our country! My family appreciates you!

Dont expect to much. Since you have experience try looking for other jobs. Only use this Home Depot job as something to do until you get something much better I would say

I think you should start off at around $10-11 per hr since you are in Ca. Be lucky you have a higher standard of living. Most other places will start you off under $8 per hr.

I dont know about in Ca, but here in Missouri you'd be lucky to get $7-8 per hr.
