I have just read about a sexual assualt on a male in my home town, I'm shocked & disgusted by it. How can one man do that to another man? It's not just men attacking men, any kind of sexual assault is disgusting but does the attacker have to be gay to do that to a man or is it just a sick power trip? This is a serious question, I just don't understand how the sick human mind works, that poor lad is going to be tormented for the rest of his life with the memory of the attack as are any rape victims!

Sexual assault is any undesired physical contact of a sexual nature perpetrated against another person. While associated with rape, sexual assault is much broader and the specifics may vary according to social, political or legal definition.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, sexual assault includes "inappropriate touching, vaginal, anal, or oral penetration, sexual intercourse that [one says] no to, rape, attempted rape, [and] child molestation
Perpetrators may include, but are not limited to, strangers, acquaintances, superiors, legal entities (as in the case of torture), or even family members. Generally, victims are more likely to be assaulted by an acquaintance (such as a friend or co-worker) than a complete stranger. Often, the act is accomplished by force sufficient to cause physical injury. At other times, even though no lasting physical injury is sustained, the psychological damage done by this intimate violation may be substantial
Let's take a look at some mistaken beliefs about male sexual assault and uncover the realities behind the myths...
Myth: Men can't be sexually assaulted. Reality: Men are sexually assaulted. Any man can be sexually assaulted regardless of size, strength, appearance or sexual orientation.
Myth: Only gay men are sexually assaulted. Reality: Heterosexual, gay and bisexual men are equally likely to be sexually assaulted. Being sexually assaulted has nothing to do with your current or future sexual orientation. Your sexuality has no more to do with being raped than being robbed.
Myth: Only gay men sexually assault other men. Reality: Most men who sexually assault other men identify themselves as heterosexual. This fact helps to highlight another reality -- that sexual assault is about violence, anger, and control over another person, not lust or sexual attraction.
Myth: Men cannot be sexually assaulted by women. Reality: Although the majority of perpetrators are male, men can also be sexually assaulted by women.
Myth: Erection or ejaculation during a sexual assault means you "really wanted it" or consented to it. Reality: Erection and ejaculation are physiological responses that may result from mere physical contact or even extreme stress. These responses do not imply that you wanted or enjoyed the assault and do not indicate anything about your sexual orientation. Some rapists are aware how erection and ejaculation can confuse a victim of sexual assault -- this motivates them to manipulate their victims to the point of erection or ejaculation to increase their feelings of control and to discourage reporting of the crime.
Effects
Victims of sexual assault experience a state that resembles acute grief because of their severe psychological losses. Their basic feelings of wholeness, strength, trust, and self-control are lost, and with them a person loses confidence in their abilities. The victim’s attempts to stop the attacker did not work — they were powerless. This feeling of powerlessness can be devastating to the victim’s sense of trust and control. Many victims are unable to talk about their experience unless they are directly asked about it.

And THIS is what I dislike about philosophy...it's fine at just the thinking of, but becomes irrational at the doing. Why would you rely on Kant for your morality and ethics? Why not Heidegger, or Aristotle, or Locke? Why not Nietzsche or Epicurus or de Sade? The list is practically endless. No matter how one chooses to "categorize" people, they're still human beings. And since almost everyone could categorize people in different ways, no one will ever agree. To me, that's a bad system for choosing "worth". What you're talking about is secular humanism 101. Remember those ridiculous questions like, "There are 7 people in a life raft built for only 6. One is a doctor, one a senior citizen, etc. Which do you put out into the open sea?" Nonsense! You try to save everyone. So, you bet, that's some Mein Kampf sh*t right there! We don't get to place differing values on human life. It has its own dignity and worth, just by being human. At least, that's what I believe.

The issue of his sexuality is irrelevant rape is in the main about control be it the victim men women or children. It is believed many rapists have a inferiority complex and a week sense of morality but of course we should never excuse them. Sadly the legal system is getting worse with lenient sentences. I think maybe castration and for multiple rapists and child rapists maybe a trip to the final judge if you know what i mean.

Ruddy disgusting. No , you dont have to be gay do disgusting things like that, just sick in the head. I remember not so long ago a chap was wrongly accused of raping a little girl. A couple of guys then attacked him and raped him , he committed suicide. Men like that dont deserve to be called men. Any kind of rape is bad. Rapist should be castrated.

And you don't think it messes women up? I have a feeling that what is really messing you up is the possibility that it could be you. Try being a woman, knowing that a quarter of a million women a year (at least, according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports) are assaulted, and there is not a dang thing I can do to stop it. You should be shocked and disgusted when you hear that a woman is raped, too.

i have been raped twice in the past 6 years, and i am having serious trouble coming to terms with it. i have thought about it alot from the rapists point of veiw and i have come up with my reasoning that makes me feel better. i now have mental issues due to the past, i am very insecure, sensitive and feel worthless. i feel this isnt fair as i could still be leading a normal life but what he done has affected me and i now do things that i should never even think of but it goes back to the rapist. i like to think that maybe rapists had terrible childhoods that make them like that just as what they did to me makes me do things.

You have to realize that rape is not about sex. It is about the
power over other humans.
I am with you on the sick human mind. I dont understand the
violence either, but my opinion is that all the violence is
due to the lack of GOD in our world. Just my opinion.
