there is no medical reason. You just need to teach him, if it is a him, how to pull back the fore skin and clean it. If not you can get a yeast infection. Also you should not pull back the skin until over a year. There are websites and stuff to tell you about how to handle it

Its to help avoid possible skin infection later in life. While hygiene is normally cited, and while cleaning the area is possible, any infection or fungus that does occur will be painful and difficult to clear up. My 17 brother was not circumcised, and was fine until he got a minor rash which took 13 months to clear fully. Its more or less a preventative step, like the imunizations your child will have to undergo before entering school.

Yes, I was not circumcised as an infant. At age 12, I had to have it done due to inability to keep clean. I'm very glad to be circumcised. I know it may seem weird, and I admit there are some thoughts of cutting and changing nature BUT I urge you to do while the child is still an infant. I heals better while the penis is so small. (No intent to be flippant )-- it really IS better to do it.

Medically, it is done for hygiene reasons, because infection can occur under the foreskin if not properly cleaned. In today's world it is not the hard to keep it clean, but it does have some valid health reason for doing so. there is just a little more work it isn't done.

There is not a medical reason. People say it helps keep it cleaner but that is silly. If you do it you are doing it purely because it is considered "normal". Some even consider it child abuse.
As a note- 8 years ago I did not even think twice about doing it to my son. It has not harmed him in any way but who is tell if he would rather have had it done or not? I couldn't tell you if I would do it on my next or not, but do not base your decision on silly lies like it will be cleaner ect.

Medically, I doubt that, but for hygienic and aesthetic purposes, go ahead and do it. He will thank you someday when he is not the odd one out, or is not ashamed/embarrassed to be naked in front of his partner. Believe me, it is NOT a pretty thing in a grown man!

it is cosmetic surgery- it makes the parent feel better. It's totally your decision, it makes no difference to the child either way.
