Best thing is water. What you're eating could be giving him gas. Generally if something gives you gas, it will give your baby gas as well.
To help his gas, try rubbing his belly. While your baby is facing you, rub his belly CLOCKWISE. Do this about 10 times and then bring your baby's knees to his chest and hold for a few seconds. Then repeat the rubbing and bending the knees. This is a massage technique for infants. It should help. Make sure you do not rub in the wrong direction or it will cause more discomfort. Good luck!

I've been breastfeeding twins for 10 months.
I had to cut out all caffeine too. I drink alot of fruit juices, cranberry juice, decaf ice tea, water, water, water, water, and ginger ale/other decaf sodas.
Your baby may be fussy because of something in your diet. It's not just the liquids you're drinking that can cause fussiness/gas. It could be that your baby is allergic to something you are eating.
For the next few days try keeping a food journal. Take a piece of paper. On one side keep track of what you eat/drink and what time. On the other side keep track of what time your baby eats and when your baby is fussy. Look for trends.
You might also want to talk to your pediatrician about possible allergies. A friend of mine's son is allergic to rice, oats, barley, peanuts, strawberries, bananas, apples (and a whole bunch of other things). Because she's breastfeeding she's had to eliminate these things from her diet as well. Since she eliminated the things her son is allergic to from her diet, her son has been much happier, less fussy,, etc.

Unless you notice a particular sensitivity for your baby, you can eat and drink anything you want.
You might try caffeine free teas, water is always a great choice (put lemon in it if you want), Gatorade, milk, white grape juice (less acidic than the ones you mentioned), lemonade, etc.

Keep in mind what you eat can be in your system for 2 days. I'd say cut out milk. I don't think it's only the things you drink, definitely the things you eat also. Cabbage, brocolli etc causes more gas for you & the baby. Not too much protein either.

Lots of water and milk. Clear pop cause it has no caffiene (not diet pop though) non-caffinated tea/coffee. Maybe try different kinds of juice like pear, grape etc

Drinks LOTS of water...helps with milk production.
Baby's gas may be due to you taking in too much dairy (at least that was the case with my daughter). Try to drink soy milk instead of cow's milk, and eliminate cheese, yogurt, and anything else dairy from your diet. Things may get better within a week or two. :)

I drank water, ginger beer, ginger ale, cranberry juice and pineapple juice while I was nursing my son. The cranberry juice was more for me than him, because with the extra fluids your body uses to produce milk, you may experience frequent UTIs. Even now at 2, he likes cranberry juice.
