Yes, and it doesn't start or end there. People like to discriminate and think that they don't.
Many teenagers that are obese are thought of as adults, especially true of girls, there is one friend who told me she applied for a job at a certain place and was hired along with older women she was 17, and was obese. They made her the manager because she looked older, even though there were married women there who were 5 to 10 years older than her. Society needs to accept people for their minds as well as their looks, what if we were all blind, there would be no discrimination then, maybe we should look at the world through a blind man's eye,how refreshing and liberating life would be.

Yes, I think they are. They were when I was in school, anyway. We had a good friend in our group of girls...and her last name was Bernard. Everyone called her BarnYard. So, so mean. They teased her, but boy, watch out!! She could have kicked any of their butts, and they all knew it. It didnt stop them from teasing her though. She is now dead. She was killed in a car accident in her 20s. So sad, cuz she was a great person.
Also, I noticed that if you were over weight, or considered overweight, you werent picked to be a cheerleader or much less, anything else. Its SO wrong. People can be very mean, and it effects ppl more than others think.

For me it was middle school and elementary school where all the teasing happend. My first year of highschool the same lame guys tried to make their oh so witty comments, but then realized people just didn't care about that kind of stuff as much as in middle school. I think honestly reguardless of your weight it depends on if you don't socialize or not. If you stay to yourself all the time then it will look like your discrimnates casue of your weight, but really your just not putting yourself out there. Also no one is going to be friends with everyone. You have your lil group and stick with it.

Yes (at least when I went to school) I was picked on by my phys. ed. teacher horribly, & was about 20 lbs. overweight. I noticed a big difference in how I was treated when I lost the weight at the end of grade 11, the boys who tormented me were suddenly asking me out & a lot of them. I refused to go out with any of them, my thought was if you can't see beyond the exterior you just aren't someone I want to spend time with.
