Can I write in my pet snake as protest against the running candidates?

You can write in any person who is eligible for the office. So, no, you cant write in your pet snake. Actually, you can, but he just cant win if he gets the most votes. But any human who meets the other requirments, like age and residency, is good.

My dad always said if he didnt like any of the candidates he would write in his own name.

I think you can write whomever you want in as a possible candidate. If many people support that same person they may be able to be elected, but I truly dont think they would be able to serve. I know the last election there was a strong surge in "Bugs Bunny" for President. I am pretty sure he wouldnt have been allowed to serve....lol (even if he may have done a better job than the current prez)

Good question! I keep threatening my wife that I will write her in for numerous offices, because I'm so sick of the negative campaign ads on television.
