reason why i am asking is that I need to buy a laptop. I'm doing a digital media production course. In the course we use softwares such as, director, dreamweaver, photoshop, soundtrack and many other media softwares. At the moment I have the choice between a apple macbook pro 15" and a Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Xi 1526. I need something that will last me long and needs less maintenance, durable etc. thanks for answers

There are other graphic adapters such as pro savage, but the major brands widely available are Ati and Nvidia. I prefer Nvidia over Ati because it seems to work better and less conflicts with WinXP. Since you are getting a laptop, I don't think that you'll have the option to upgrade the video card if it doesn't do the job for you. It is probably best to get a desktop for this kind of job (mutimedia, etc).

There is no right or wrong answer to this question, it is totally up to user preference. However, as to your choice about which computer to buy, on the one hand Apples are very easy to use and don't have massive security issues. They are also quite good at multimedia applications and all the apps you mention are available on Mac. However, if you are going to be using lots of third-party software, then the Windows pc would be better. If you have any doubts about the software being available for mac, go for the windows one.

It really depends on what you want to do with your computer. But in my experience (I have had both), Nvidia is better than Ati. Nvidia also has much superior software and easier upgrades than Ati. But I currently have an Ati on my notebook- and I wish I would have gotten one with a Nvidia.

the easiest way to describe these manufacturers are nvidia are better for users with limited experience with graphic cards and ati are better for the advanced user
this is because the nvidia control panel is much user freindly than the ati catylyst control center,which is much too confusing to the average user
