it runs from September 21 to December 21st - and each season runs for 4 months, but there is no month in which all seasons happen

season is one of the major divisions of the year, generally based on yearly periodic changes in weather.

In temperate and polar regions generally four seasons are recognized: spring, summer, autumn (fall), and winter.

In some tropical and subtropical regions it is more common to speak of the rainy (or wet, or monsoon) season versus the dry season, as the amount of precipitation may vary more dramatically than the average temperature.

In other tropical areas a three-way division into hot, rainy and cool season is used. In some parts of the world, special "seasons" are loosely defined based upon important events such as a hurricane season, tornado season, wildfire season or a sport season.

It is interesting to note that historically seasons were considered to begin about 4 weeks earlier than the meteorological seasons, and seven weeks earlier than the astronomical seasons:

* spring began on February 2 / Candlemas or February 1 / Imbolc,
* summer on May 1st / May Day/ Beltane ,
* autumn on August 1st / Lammas/ Lughnasadh, and
* winter on November 1st /All Hallows / Samhain.

Accordingly, midsummer and midwinter were, as their names suggest, the middle of summer and winter.

So, in meteorology for the Northern hemisphere:

* spring begins by convention on March 1,
* summer on June 1,
* autumn on September 1 and
* winter on December 1.

This definition is also followed in Denmark and former USSR.

Conversely, for the Southern hemisphere, meteorological

* summer begins on December 1,
* autumn on March 1,
* winter on June 1 and
* spring on September 1.

This definition is also followed in Australia.

Doesn't matter where you are in the world, the equinox dates are the same. Sep 21, Dec 21, Mar 21 and Jun 21 +/- a day either way. Check the calendar for moon cycles. The seasons are determined by these equinox dates. In the Northern Hemisphere summer is from 21Jun to 21Sep. Fall to 21Dec, Winter to 21Mar and Spring to 21Jun. Southern Hemisphere is opposite with Summer 21Dec to 21 Mar then Fall then Winter then Spring. Hope this helps.

Don't quite know what you mean by 4 season month though.

Depends on where:

SPRING: Around March 20 in the Northern Hemisphere, and September 23 in the Southern Hemisphere.

SUMMER: beginning around June 21, and ending around September 23 in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, summer begins around December 21.

FALL/AUTUMN: begin with the autumnal equinox (around September 23) in the Northern hemisphere, and the vernal equinox (March 21) in the southern hemisphere, ending with the winter solstice (around December 21) in the Northern hemisphere and the summer solstice (June 21) in the Southern hemisphere.

WINTER: starts with the winter solstice (around December 21 in the Northern Hemisphere and June 21 in the Southern Hemisphere), and ends with the spring equinox (around March 21 in the Northern Hemisphere and September 21 in the Southern Hemisphere).
