See a Dr and try an anti-depressant. Depression doesn't have the stigma attached to it that it used to, and there are some great treatments out there that can help you feel joy again.

If helping others gives you joy that is a very good quality. The thing I think you should keep in mind is that the homeless, drug addicted, etc are sociatal problems that no one person can possibly address due to 1) not enough time to help the thousands upon thousands, and 2) not having the trainig to deal with these people's problems, why not volunteer some time at a homeless shelter and do the little bit you can to help many? I am a firefighter in midwestern city that has its share of problems, I deal with these people on a daily basis and have learned to not bring it into my personal life, or dwell on them. I do what I can, then go home to my own life. Otherwise I would be absolutely miserable.

You need to get a grip on reality, this is life and we have negativity around us, and we all deal with it, I have learned that as a person I need to stay positive about what goes on around me and my kids, and I can still help as much as possible and know that I am grateful for what we have. I don't want to sound mean when I say that we all make choices in our lives, and some of these homeless people made a choice and that was to not try and get a job, and would rather live on the streets and drink and do drugs. I work alot with the homeless when they come into the Emergency Room, and they abuse the system, they know that if they come in drunk we will feed them bathe them and they will get to sleep on a bed for the night. Now I may feel a bit compassionate if the same ones did not come back repeatidly for the same reason, drunk, and hungry. I also want to make you understand that homeless people will generally spend their money on drugs and alcohol, not food or anything like that they have learned to use people to get what they want. So please I am not saying don't help, that is your choice, but don't be upset for their choices and it is all a choice in life.

Honestly, I never heard of or experienced a situation like yours, but from my perspective it seems that you are one of those people who want to save the world. Now the problem with that is you are human just like the rest of us and it is impossible for you to house every homeless person or prevent bad things from happening, but it is cowardly to not think about these things at all. By not thinking about these things you are living in a world of make believe; you are creating a fictional place in your mind and that's not healthy. Just because you can't help someone does not mean you have failed or that you should beat your self up about it because these are not your burdens to bear.
I think you just need to either go to church or seek psychological help because no one should feel that responsible for what's going on in the world that they can not live happily unless they ignore what's going on or they can help.

There is nothing wrong with empathy. It is a quality you can learn through and learning is a quality we are all here to put to good use.
Help whom you can. To to the other extreme and help NO ONE isn't good for you or them. If you only get depressed when you cannot help people and you are helping those you can help, you will sooner or later cope with it better to the extent you can do that.

It appears like OCD. My son went by way of OCD ranges too. fortunately he seems to have conquer them. while he replaced into youthful, i might attempt to quit the OCD tendency he had and he might initiate a sparkling one. He went interior the process the consistent hair wetting, and then to the consistent hand washing, and then to the consistent teeth brushing etc. He continuously replaced his outfits numerous situations an afternoon. It replaced right into a persevering with conflict with him yet I stored up with him and he grew out of it some how. I do propose you seek for exterior help so as that it would not get worst in a while and so it would not finally end up working your existence in a while for sturdy.

There are people on the street who prefer to beg, rather than work.
There is always work available for those who choose to actually better themselves. LIfe IS full of challange. They simple have no desire to accept it.
Everyone believes what one chooses to believe. And THAT is my belief. You need to accept what will satisfy YOU.
