when I lived in zone 8 in central Texas, you didn't have to winterize....but I would buy that frost cloth from a nursery and put it on in cold weather....you can buy as many feet as you need and it is about 12 or 15 feet wide...

A good mulch should do the trick. hay straw, Pine-straw (composted pine needles). Put about a 6" (inch) layer around & in between each plant.

Lived in TX many years, saw only 3 snow days. You don't really need to do anything. They'll be fine.

drain all water and add anti-freeze. Oh come on, it was cute! Actually about 10" of straw should do it
