Since most cars now measure displacement in liters, try multiplying the liter rating by 61.4 to get an approximate cubic inch measurement. For example, 5.7 liters x 61.4 = 349.98, so round up and you get 350 cubic inches.

1 (cubic inch) = .016387064 liters
So given cubic inches, multiply by .016387064
ie: 350 cubic inches * 0.016387064 = 5.73Liters
Given Liters, divide by .016387064
ie: 5 Liters / 0.016387064 = 305 cubic inches.
Or for the ultimate in laziness (like my wife).
Go to http://www.google.com
Type in "350 cubic inches in liters" without the quotes, and Google will spit out the conversion for you. :-p
Or for people who are actually really smart if they would just apply their head a little. bud13kv, you actually know the mathematical conversion. By simply knowing that 350cubic inches = 5.7L you have memorized what is known as a conversion factor!
Simply put. A unit 1 = 350 cubic inches/5.7L (I too have this memorized which is why I used my examples above)
Or the unit can be written as 5.7L/350 cubic inches.
These two are now what are known as conversion factors, and you can convert to your hearts content.
(Note the Liters on top cancels with the Liters in the denominator of the conversion factor, leaving you with cubic inches)
2.2L * 350 cubic inches/5.7L = 135 cubic inches.
1.8L * 350 cubic inches/5.7L = 110.5 cubic inches.
Or
To convert cubic inches to liters, simply reverse the conversion factor. Now cubic inches on top cancels with the cubic inches in the denominator of the conversion factor and you are left with Liters.
280 cubic inches * 5.7L/350 cubic inches = 4.56 Liters
People are smarter than they realize, just need to apply yourself.

Easiest way to convert c.i. to ltrs. is:
c.i. divided by 61.2
To get c.i. from ltrs. would be c.i.X 61.2
Example: 350 c.i. divided by 61.2 = 5.7
5.7 X 61.2 =349.99999999 (350 c.i.d.)
Works for me.....
