What skills are needed to be successful at Foosball?

My friend Mark B needs some serious tips - the direction of the oppositions goal for example :)

* Perseverance
* A willingness to try again
* Determination to get better
* Concentration - don't be put off by the other team (often hard if they're winning)
* Watch for trick angles
* Try and predict the movements of your opponant (obviously easier if you've played them before)
* Block them at every opportunity
* Don't spin - it's easier to make mistakes as you have less control
* Try not to back pass - these can backfire.

Just don't be put off because you're bound to be improving all the time even if you have a few off-games...

I think I would consider taking a course at a local college to be a games operator instead. That way you observe the game from the other side of the table and make money at the same time.

hand-eye-coordination
technique
teamwork (if your playing with a partner)
a deft touch
feel for the ball
strong grip
fast thrusting in/out motion
scoring
stamina
making lots of noise

It's all about the angles! Read up on Pythagoras....

But also remember that some people just don't have what it takes, no amount of training, maths, luck and angles is ever going to lift them above the mediocrity that characterises their every move!
