I ask because the UK has transformed into just a market and as long as you make money, you are accepted. But is anything owed to those who don't fit into this, or are they the problem and they need to 'get with the programme'?

The only thing any government owes to its citizens is protection against force and fraud. Everything else ought to be left up to the ingenuity of the rational individual.

Good question.
This country owes its old, young, infirm and sick protection and help.
It does also need people who make money for it to supply these services and to progress the country.
So I suppose the answer to your question is - the strong should provide for those less able until it is their turn to receive. The crucial bit of this is that you need not supply money - help in any other form is 'a contribution' to society also - and just as valuable.

I know of a few countries where the good people of the afore said are owed big time but because of corruptional governments, I suppose being allowed to live is better than what they have lost.

they are elected to serve the people, all of them, but theyserve themselves and make the people serve them as well. so yes they owe us yhe country they betrayed and they ow us a proper living.
