This party also has kids around the ages of 8-12. We would like to do something that will take a couple of hours to do. Any ideas or web sites to visit would be great! Thank You!

My step-daughter, niece, and I (ages 10 at the time) did a few crafts.

1. Get a puzzle piece. Outline it on green construction paper. (Make quite a few of them). Cut them out. Overlap them until you have created a circle with them. Get a hole puncher and putch out red circles from construction paper. Glue them on the circle you made with the puzzle pieces. You have just created a wreath christmas ornament with holly. You can glue a picture to the inside and have a christmas frame ornament.

Also. We got a 3 pack of white poster board. We drew a large candy cane on each of them and cut them out. We then got (blue garland and white garland) and wrapped them around the poster board and stapled it. We had beautiful shiny candy canes that we hung on the walls. (they actually sell them at Hobby Lobby) so why not make them yourself?

Also... This could take a while but if you have many children helping it would be better. Get a large white posterboard and draw a huge snowman. Make the lines for the hat and buttons and nose, eyes, and mouth. Buy colored tissue(colors for the hat, scarf, eyes, nose, and mouth). Tear little pieces of tissue and ball them up. Glue each little tissue ball to the snowmans hat, scarf, buttons, eyes, etc... until you have completely colored in the sections. Get white cotton balls to color in the snowman himself. Take brown construction paper and cut out the arms for the snowman. We made a snowman and hung it inbetween our candy canes that we made. Looks great and the kids had a blast doing all these decorations.

One more... You can cut up a lot of gingerbread men with brown construction paper, let the kids cut up out of different colored paper outfits for them. String them together with either yarn or fishing line and hang them up. We had all kinds of exciting gingerbread men and women.

You can also cut out santas faces, with the hats and use cotton balls as the beard and hair, snowmen, reindeer, etc.

Cut out of posterboard some bells. Then overlap them with aluminum foil and glue it together. You now have Silver Bells.

Cut out 2 christmas trees with green construction paper, make a slit in the top of one and a slit in the bottom of another and slide them together you now have a 3D christmas tree!

Check out www.FamilyFun.com, they have GREAT ideas and step by step instructions on how to do all of their activities, plus they have activities for ALL of the holidays!

One thing my family did was to make and Advent Wreath,

you will need:
Chicken wire about 3 ft long and at least 12 in wide for each wreath
ever green boughs, usually can get them from tree shops that have trimmed their trees

Wire cutters
Needle nose pliers
Gloves

Wear the gloves to protect your hands
using the wire cutters cut the chicken wire to size
Use the needle nose pliers to roll the wire into a tube witdthwise, and use the pliers to twist the cut ends of the wire around the finised ends to hold it together, Should end up woth a tube three feet long. bend the tube so that the opne ends meet and fasten the ends together to make a ring.

Cut your ever green to sizes you want and insert them into the holes in the chicken wire, repeat untill your wreath is filled,

you can attach bows or ornaments, insert advent candles as desired or you can hang the wreath.

NOTE: an alternative to twistin the wires to hold the chicken mesh together is to use sturdy zip ties instead.

Decorate Sugar Cookies with frosting and fun candies (M&M's, Sprinkles, Licorice... ect.)
Decorate Stockings (buy large buckets of beads, and get some hot glue guns, and sparkles. This us REALLY fun. Just go to the dollar store and pick some stokings up- really easy, and really cheap!!!)
Decorate Santa Hats!!!
Decorate Ornaments (This is REALLY fun too!!! You can use the fake plastic balls and get some puff paints, some glitter/sparkles- beads)
Make Gingerbread Houses out of Gram Crackers.
Make Bead Ornaments (You can make ice crystals out of crystal beads by stringing them, smallest beads first, ending with lager beads, on wire. This is beautiful.)
You can make angles out of Bows, glue wooden balls for the head on top of the bow, and it looks like an age. Use a pipe cleaner for the crown.
Email smilebit7@yahoo.com for any questions. I'm from a family of 16, and we do arts and crafts all the time!!! Hope this helps, and best of luck!!!

Making reindeers out of pinecones is cute.
For each person/reindeer you will need:
*2 pinecones: 1 large for the body
1 smaller for the head
*4 straight sticks: Sturdy enough for legs and mush be cut flush so deer will stand up
2 Twigs or branches : For antlers
Sequined Eyes
Red poof balls for nose (Roudolph )
Brown or white poof balls for tails
Glitter is optional

Hot glue the legs to the larger of the two cones
Set aside to dry
Use regular Glue to eyes and nose to smaller of cones
Glue antlers to top of smaller cone
Hot glue head to body.

You can get different sized Styrofoam balls (craft stores, Walmart etc), different colored felt, googly eyes, toothpicks and glue (I use hot glue). Attach the balls with the toothpicks and a little glue to form a snowman. Then decorate with the eyes, felt for a hat, scarf, buttons etc and make your snowman or snow lady. They come out adorable!
