i had not experienced that growing up in the south, in new york, everyone does it.

My family does the kissing thing, but only the cheek, and it's barely a peck. Then again, some of them are French. I have no qualms about it. But I'm more of a hug person if it's a close friend especially if I haven't seen them in a long time.

On the cheek kissing yes, but only with very close friends, not mouth kissing, no way, not ever. My b/f's best mate kisses my cheek when we meet, and that's fine, my b'f kisses his best mates girlfriend's cheek as well, we are both comfortable with that as it is just an affectionate greeting for a friend.

I guess, for me, this would depend on the type of kiss. Are we talking about a kiss on the cheek? or a much more intimate kiss? I greet close friends with a kiss on the cheek, just as I would a family member. If it's anything more intimate then that, I would question it.

I personally don't feel it is wrong. I use to do that with my close friends.
Now I have a boyfriend who doesn't like it if I kiss a close male friend. He is jealous. I just don't understand why people let jealousy get in the way. I mean I am with him. NOT with my friend when it comes to a partner.
I think it is ok.

I shouldn't think it is a problem on the cheek. But, if you are trying make a reason to kiss people on the mouth and it just be a friends kind of thing, go blow wind up somebody Else's kazoo because that don't fly here.

my husband is from Mexico, and he is very affectionate with his family. he would kiss his sister on the cheek every time they saw it each and it drove me crazy. it was silly of me to be upset about it, but it DID bother me. sometimes you can't help a little irrational jealousy. if you or someone else is bothered by friendly kissing, just recognize it for what it is (probably just irrational jealousy) and don't make a big deal about it. now, if it's your husband and he greets his exgirlfriend with a kiss, that might need a discussion.....

That depends. Is it just a peck or a full on open mouth kiss? There is nothing wrong with a casual peck to greet a friend, as long as you are secure in your relationship and trust one another.

This question comes down to one word, trust. I have no problem with my wife kissing someone hello or goodbye. If an innocent kiss worries you, there is underlying mistrust that must be dealt with.

I am a very touchy, feely person but it does make my husband uncomfortable when I *hug* everybody..Especially guys....He knows this is just how I am....But it makes him uncomfortable so I try really hard not to do it in front of him......But I really don't kiss...I hug....I don't see anything wrong with it.
