Well, my favorite website is blocked here at work. I was using it all the time, now it's blocked! Its only a pregnancy website, so a friend told me I could use a porxy like (webunblocker.com) to get to the website. I am using it now, but it is sooo slow? Basically a waste of time... Are there any better ones? And how do proxies actually work anyway?

Proxify.com is always a nice choice. it works well and is pretty fast.

You also might try downloading some programs to do it, Complete Annonymous Web Surfing (CAWS) is always a good one.

They're slow because they have to transfer all the information twice instead of once.

instead of you connecting to a website that the company can block access to, you connect to another computer that connects to that website and gives your computer all of that information. so all the websites you access are given a different url because you are getting them from a diffent computer, on ethat isn't blocked. it is slow because there is a lot of people doign that all at once. free proxies cost money to opperate, so they are only as fast as the owner can affort.

If they blocked that site most likely they are monitoring the network in which they can still see where your going and know its you.
