I have the longest list of what I can't eat. I would like specific answers please... not just "fruits and vegetables" or "something from all food groups." I cannot see the doctor to ask for two more weeks and I am VERY hungry. It seems as if I puke up everything I eat except for toast. Please help! Also, what can I drink? And what's the safest thing to sweeten my tea - natural maple syrup or honey? Thank you all so much if you answer!!!

I had severe nausea with all my pregnancies. Here are a few tips:

*Cold drinks, for some reason, tend to make you nauseaus. Try drinking your drinks at room temperature.

*Gatorade is good, not only does it seem to curb nausea but it replenishes important fluids and electrolytes you lose from throwing up.

*Lemons have something in them that wards off nausea. Try lemon drops, lemonheads, or some kind of lemon hard candy. The sugar also helps keep your blood sugar at a consistant level which also helps with nausea, weakness, tiredness, etc.

*Try to keep something light on your stomach. Empty stomachs trigger nausea. Applesauce, yougurt, a small piece of cheese.

*Gingerale is really good. They have flavored gingerale, such as raspberry and dry grape if you don't like plain gingerale.

Nausea is your bodys way of adjusting to hormones. Alot of women find that they have an aversion to meats or whatnot. It's your bodies way of telling you what it needs.

If you eat toast, put a small amount of jelly or honey on it. The small amount of sugar really goes a long way, and it will help out ALOT!!

Spearmint gum is good too, for when you are on the go.

Crackers of any kind are good. If you can stomach toast, eat that. Try some peanut butter on your toast or crackers. I used to eat a yogurt every morning while pregnant with my son and I wouldn't get sick if I did. Gingersnaps or something else made with ginger may help. Hot tea is good to drink as is water. As to sweeten your tea, you can use sugar substitutes if you don't want to use regular sugar. Honey is not that good for you. Try the syrup.

what i have found that helps me is some unbuttered toast and weak tea and saltine crackers. i will nibble some crackers and just lay quietly in bed for a little while before i get up and that has helped to cut down on my morning sickness. the first trimester is pretty hard with all the nasty things that go along with it! hopefully it will all pass in a few weeks. You need 6 to 12 servings of grains, 4 to 6 servings of veggies, 3to 5 servings of fruit, 3 to 5 of meat and 4 to 6 servings of milk and dairy everyday while your pregnant. Also 8 glasses of water, and 30 minutes of exercise will help a lot too. take it easy on the caffeine. I'm a hardcore caffeine addict and its been difficult for me to give it up. honey or syrup either one should be safe just don't give your baby honey once its born!. i recommend getting the book, What to expect while your expecting, it has several chapters on proper nutrition during pregnancy and dealing with morning sickness. Have a good day and congrats on the pregnancy!

I drank gatorade and ginger ale while I had morning sickneess. The gatorade was just to replenish the fluids and the ginger ale helped with the nausea. I had crackers, toast, and sandwiches for 3 months straight, because that was all I could keep down for more than 2 minutes. I know honey isnt good for babies, so I would say natural syrup.

ginger is good, there are cookies and tea that contain ginger, I would keep the cookies by my bed for when I first woke up, the tea could come after. altoids also have a ginger version, but they are not availible everywhere, so u might want to look for them online. as for sweetening your tea, I never tried maple syrup, but honey works well. Be sure to keep the honey away from the baby for the first year though.

I was sick the first 3 months with all of my kids...morning and night. I feel for you sweetie..it isn't easy I know. Here are just a few things I did that really seemed to help me. I would have saltines sitting by the bed and eat a few before I even sit up. Be sure to take your prenatal vitamins at night before you go to bed. Alot of times these can add to the "sick" feeling..so if you take it and go straight to bed, you sleep through the sick feeling from that. Instead of eating 3 regular sized meals a day...eat 4 or 5 smaller meals. Alot of times in pregnancy, the hormones can cause a change in your blood sugar, causing it to drop. Eating more frequently keeps it steady..but make sure its smaller meals, don't want to add more weight than you should. In between meals...try sucking on peppermint. Peppermint is proven to actually "settle" your stomach...I found it to be wonderful. Keep it in your purse or pockets and just pop one when you need it. With my meals I drank gatorade..the electrolytes help WONDERFULLLY! Gatorade does have salt..so watch it, don't over do it on the gatorade! Also..when sweetening your drinks..no artificial sugar! Artificial sugar during pregnancy can actually interfere with the brain development..so use real sugar only. As far as foods you can eat...eat what you feel like eating. Try to go easy with the fried foods of course..not too spicy, and try to hang back away from the caffeine stuff. Fish is wonderful for pregnant women..and I loved it baked. Salads are good too. Really...eat what you feel like you want. Don't deprive yourself because you are pregnant...that baby will be fine. When it comes to things you are consuming, just use your common sense. If it isnt good for you, then you know it isn't good for your baby. Good luck and I hope some of this helps!

Before you go to bed try to eat meat and/or cheese for protein, so that it will metabolize slowly in your body and keep your blood sugar from dropping drastically at night. If not meat and cheese try peanut butter at least. Avoid sugar and simple starch before bed and when you wake up try the regular, like crackers and ginger based or dry/burnt toast and cereal before you get out of bed. The charcoal in burnt toast helps w/nausea. This helped me, w/my morning sickness which I had all through pregnancy, but became bearable when I started doing these things!
