The believe the latest for kids to be trick or treating i mean kids parents accompany would be 8 pm and that's the latest I used to live in a military base and there was no more trick or treating after that time plus if u start earlier like 6 pm you'll get the best candies because if u go late all the good ones will be gone.

I have always thought 6 p.m. is a good time to begin. It is usually light enough out to begin, yet the children will enjoy it when it gets dark, too. I think after 8 p.m. is too late, though I get trick-or-treaters until after 10 p.m. Also the earlier you go out, the warmer it will be so the kids don't get sick. Finally, if we begin at 6, then the kids can still come home and enjoy the rest of the evening at home handing out candy ( it is important for children to not just be takers, but givers as well) and they can still get to bed at a decent hour because they do have school tomorrow and need their rest. I am a teacher and the kids are usually obnoxious the day after Halloween due to too much sugar and not enough sleep, so they are crabby and uncooperative the next day. But, I LOVE HALLOWEEN!! I am dressed as a giant chicken today for my students and doing the chicken dance in the hallway between classes.

depends on the age of the kids.
Dusk is the appropriate time as that is when people are ready for you to come.
Older kids can go out much later

We start right at dusk, just when it's getting spooky! Since it's a school night, they won't stay out toooo late tonight! Just long enough to get a good haul!! Happy Halloween!!
