She probably wants you to have a day 10 ultrasound. If the egg is 15mm in size or larger, it is highly indicative that you will ovulate in a few days.

It also means that you are on the right dose of clomid, if the egg is smaller than 15mm, you usually increase the dose.

I also had to have an u.s. before I started the Clomid. For one my doc wanted to be absolutely sure that I wasn't pregnant and two, he wanted to make sure that I didn't have any cysts on my ovaries. Cysts are a side effect of Clomid. They normally dissolve on their own though. But your ob will prob do a few u.s. while you are taking the Clomid to make sure no cysts have formed. It's a precaution and a good thing, nothing to worry about I'm sure. Good luck ttc
p.s.
please remember that Clomid does not work for everyone. I took it for 3 months (100 mg each) and discovered that I did not ovulate on it.

Probably to check if you have ovarian cysts. If you have them, then Clomid isn't for you. BTW, did she tell you about the side effects? There is this great webside, called the Clomid Club, where you can find a ton of information. Hot flashes and really bad mood were among my side effects when on Clomid.

Good luck!

Clomid can cause hyperstimulation in your ovaries. An u/s will check for this. I've had them done on day 13 and more recently on day 17. Get a list of questions together for your doctor so you don't forget anything.
